What sacrifices one should be ready to make during JEE/NEET Preparation?
Introduction
When getting ready for competitive tests such as JEE or NEET, besides being committed, you need to clearly comprehend your interests and motivations. People should not start preparing for them unless they are sure that it is their passion and is in line with the career they want to pursue in future. Do not choose to take this path only because many others are taking it or due to influence from friends.
The most important thing to do first about this prep journey is having study habits that are strict which include a well-planned timetable and fixed periods for studies. To pass these tests, you need to be able to control your time so that you can spend many hours studying with few interruptions. This does not mean compromising on essential aspects like sleep, but it does require prioritizing your career over comfort.
Avoid the following things while preparing for JEE/NEE:
• Reduced Use of Electronic Devices
Smart phones and electronic devices should be avoided during the preparation phase, as social media is a huge diversion in this age. So, you will have to sacrifice on a big friends circle and an active social life during your preparation phase.
• Minimal Social Engagements
Keep a small group of likeminded friends who motivate you to do better in your academics. Getting into any relationships with the opposite sex is strictly prohibited as it would divert you from your main goal.
• Selective Social Interactions
Family functions, vacations and small pleasures of going out regularly with friends also needs to be sacrificed, as neither the days of preparation are going to increase nor the number of hours in a day.
• Hobbies & Leisure Activities
While engaging in hobbies can help reduce stress, it’s also critical to limit the amount of time spent doing them. It is important to pursue hobbies in moderation so as not to interfere with your study time. You should avoid engaging in lengthy chats with pals or engaging in things that don’t help you prepare.
